….I have a passion for food.
I love eating it. I love cooking it. I love shopping for it. I love daydreaming about it. I love everything about it. Yet I have never loved writing about it. That is all about to change.
As a child, I drove my poor mother crazy with the various concoctions I created. She often held herself back as I mixed fabulous new elixirs with expensive face creams, or fed caterpillary mud pies to my little brother, and whipped up particularly delicious “cakes” from whatever I could find in the kitchen cupboards while her back was turned. The poor woman must have been delighted once I learned to read because she would have been under the misguided impression that I might actually follow some recipes. Ha!
Years later, this passion for mixing stuff together just to see what the hell would happen resulted in a chemistry degree. But even a professional environment and a monthly pay cheque could not persuade me to actually stick to the recipes; which can get a little dangerous when you’re in a lab. I now have a much safer desk-based job, and since leaving the lab have rediscovered my kitchen. This blog is the story of that rediscovery, complete with explosions, disasters and epic failures, but also hopefully resulting in something delicious every now and again.

You’ll have to forgive (me for) my total lack of knowledge, technique or any proficiency. But I’ll more than make up for it in gluttony, ahem, I mean passion!
